New York State of Mind

We have been in the Big Apple for a little over a week now and it has been great! I am interning with MAC Presents, which is a music sponsorship and experiential agency that creates strategic partnerships between artists and brands. I am interning with three other girls from Harpeth Hall, and we have been busy this week.

We have mostly been working on updating one-sheets, which are small powerpoints that include images of the artists and information on them. We were updating social media stats (ex. number of followers on Instagram). The office is working on planning a pre-Grammy brunch for one of their artists, so we visited the location of that on Wednesday to see the space and how the different decorations and things, like food and a photo-booth, will work in the space. We have been brainstorming some more ideas for the name of the event and other decorations they can have. There was also a photo shoot that day in the office for Billboard Magazine, as Marcie is going to be featured in an issue soon. There was a buzz in the office as everyone worked towards organizing, cleaning, and getting ready for the photo shoot. On normal days in the office, most of the employees sit at a desk that is arranged with the others in a rectangle shape, making it easy to communicate to one another. There is always music playing lightly in the background to, whether it be Jason Mraz or SZA. The same day, three of us  headed out at 1:00 to go see Dear Evan Hansen, a Tony winning musical.

The show was absolutely amazing. It captured the audience with every tear-jerking, funny, or sincere line or lyric. We had the alternate for the lead and an understudy for one of the female leads, but both were excellent in their roles! I highly recommend this show. That night, we went to the Harpeth Hall alumnae, which was in the MAC Presents office. The food was great and it was fun to talk to the girls in the other group and graduates from Harpeth Hall. On Thursday night the four of us went to a Billy Joel concert in Madison Square Garden, which Marcie graciously enough invited us to. His singing and piano playing skills were incredible, and we had a blast! MAC has helped make brand partnerships for him, so it was neat to see an artist that the company has worked with!
